Received today from the Niagara County Community College Small Business Development Center:
The Small Business Administration has received $125 million to continue enhancements to its two largest loan programs through Feb. 28.
As part of stimulus package, the SBA got $730 million, which included $375 million to increase the SBA guarantee on so-called 7(a) loans to 90 percent and to waive borrower fees on most 7(a) and 504 loans. The funds for these programs ran out on Nov. 23.
Continuing the enhancements, originally made under the federal stimulus package, will support $4.5 billion in small business lending, the federal agency said. The money was included in last week’s Defense Department appropriations bill signed into law by President Obama on Dec. 19. Full press release
One of the things I’ve always felt Innovations Rochester needs is a good calendar of events. I’m not quite there, but I’ve managed to locate and install the Events Manager plugin for WordPress that provide a reasonable infrastructure for this. I don’t have the calendar portion working quite right (there seems to be an incompatibility with the latest release of WordPress) but it’s pretty good otherwise.
Go check out the Events Page and let me know what you think!
P.S. You can find the link at the very top of every page.

Welcome to the new Innovations Rochester blog! This site has been languishing for the last several years, so I decided it was time to either give it a serious makeover or dump it. (You can tell which option I chose!)
My vision for this incarnation of the Innovations Rochester blog is a place for local small businesses to discuss what’s happening to and around them. For example, I am the owner of Urban Village Scooters so you’ll see posts about my shop and the Rochester scooter scene here.
If you have a small business located in or around Rochester, NY you’re welcome to post your information, too. Simply contact me and I’ll set things up so you can post your articles and announcements here.
Here’s hoping the Innovations Rochester blog takes off, and we all have a happy and successful new year!
